What's hatching in Mother birdie's nest?
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother’s day. Springing off from last week’s poem dedicated to my mom I wrote a poem about mother birds.  I write a lot of poems about birds mainly because they are constantly flapping past my window or singing to me in the mornings.  If you take a moment to watch them you will realize how truly wonderful they are except for the handful of pigeons who like to sit in my eavestroughing.  Now here is today's poem.

Mother Birdie

Mother birdie
Collects the scraps
To build the nest
Round and round
With sticks & bits
Lined with feathers
From the birdie's chest
A safe place
For her eggs to rest!

  1. Nice to see a sweet poem for the busy birds. One swooped at me yesterday because I guess I got too close. Thanks!

    1. Yikes! The geese around here can be quite mean if you get to close.

  2. Lovely poem, Rena! I love watching birds too. We have a nest in our garage, and another in our front entry-way porch and it's such fun to see the bird families coming along. We also have hummingbirds, which make the others look so big and clumsy!

    1. Thanks. I miss the birds in the winter. I'm so happy when spring comes and they are back tweeting outside my bedroom window.
