A to Z Poetry

In celebration of National Poetry Month I will be posting about poetry each day that corresponds to the letter of the alphabet.  This challenge is open to everyone and I encourage you to get your kids involved!  On April 12 I will doing a post on kids poetry and encourage your children to send me some poems that I can post on that day. Several poets, authors, and illustrators have volunteered their time to bring you valuable information. It's going to be a fun and informative month!

The Challenge

Starting with the letter 'A' on April 1, 2012 write a poem based on that day's lesson and challenge. There are 26 letters in the alphabet so you will create 26 poems in the month of April. Take Sundays off to revise (except for Sunday, April 1). If you have kids get them involved.

  2. Hi Rena, I can't believe I'm signing up for this, after doing it already in January but it is great for the writing muscles! I wish you had an email sign up on your blog, because I no longer use Google reader or feed burner. I'll just have to google you :) (p.s. see on the right, it is 'credit is due' ;))

  5. We are on the same wavelength...and I love that! I can't wait to see what you offer as challenges. I'm just going to open the dictionary randomly each day to a section of the dictionary and write from that word. Today I saw at Jama's that we are both thinking LETTERS! Yay us! Happy almost Poetry Month..... a.

  8. Hi Rena, I'm just about ready to start the challenge. I've been researching poetry sites that will help me with the basics anyway. So, on April 1st we will visit your blog here for further instructions, right? That day's lesson and challenge will be listed here?!

Thanks for the congrats you left of my blog. I'm glad you told me about the e-reader issue. Meegenius offers all their books viewable to read on their site. (I also fixed my wording I listed on my blog to make it less confusing -so thanks for that!)

  9. Great theme! I'm not focusing on poetry, but might slip a few into my chosen theme for the blog challenge: Awesome Lady Writers. I know a couple poets who are awesome ladies, so that should work nicely. Looking forward to reading your poems!
