Poetic Captions: Mother Birdie
Welcome back to poetic captions. If you haven't had a chance to cast your vote in my poetry contest click here to vote now.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother’s day. Springing off from last week’s poem dedicated
to my mom I wrote a poem about mother birds.
I write a lot of poems about birds mainly because they are constantly
flapping past my window or singing to me in the mornings. If you take a moment to watch them you will
realize how truly wonderful they are except for the handful of pigeons who like to sit in my eavestroughing. Now here is today's poem.
If you liked this post please let others know. Next week on Poetic Captions, I'll be announcing the winners from my poetry contest and sharing some poetry tips from children's poet Tiffany Stone. On Ouch Monday, I'll be talking about rejections I hope you come back for that. Remember you can always connect with
me on Facebook and Twitter. Until then dare to write the impossible.

What's hatching in Mother birdie's nest? |
Mother Birdie
--by Rena J. Traxel
Mother birdie
Collects the scraps
To build the nest
Round and round
With sticks & bits
Lined with feathers
From the birdie's chest
A safe place
For her eggs to rest!

Katya Czaja is hosting this week's
Poetry Friday Roundup. Thanks Katya!
Nice to see a sweet poem for the busy birds. One swooped at me yesterday because I guess I got too close. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYikes! The geese around here can be quite mean if you get to close.
DeleteThat's so cute, Rena!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem, Rena! I love watching birds too. We have a nest in our garage, and another in our front entry-way porch and it's such fun to see the bird families coming along. We also have hummingbirds, which make the others look so big and clumsy!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I miss the birds in the winter. I'm so happy when spring comes and they are back tweeting outside my bedroom window.
DeleteYour poem is a fun place to start a study of birds and nests!
ReplyDeleteI love it, Rena...very nice poem and drawing. The talent between you and Bill is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Thank you. It would be a dream if I could put a book together with my husband.
DeleteThat was beautiful Rena! Love the illustration :)
ReplyDeleteThank you.
